Tandem Cycling - what about kickstands?

Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.
I'm new to this forum and new to tandems. And it's been almost 30 years since I had a kickstand on a bike. But I've been wishing my tandem had a kickstand; have been thinking of getting the ESGE / Pletscher one with two legs. It's not like it'll make any difference to the weight of the bike, after all; but will it hold the bike at all? Does anyone have one on a tandem? Any comments, advice, etc?

Have seen the 2-legged kickstands on a couple tandems including a recumbent. Yes, a 2- or even a 1-legged quality kickstand can hold up an unloaded tandem.
We have not used kickstand in 33+ years of tandeming. You can find something to lean the tandem against or lay it down (that way it can't fall down).
A kickstand can be over tightened and cause tubing to be crimped/damaged where it attaches.
Have seen a tandem keel over with one legged kickstand as the blacktop was a bit hot and tilted the bike over.
Your choice. . . just our opinion/experience.
