Hey all, I'm going to be in Seattle from 3/12-3/14 with my road bike. Can someone recommend a 50-100 mile route starting in the downtown Seattle area to do on Saturday 3/13? I'm not looking to set any speed records, but rather to take a moderately paced spin around the area. Thanks, Mike

Looks like it's a go for Saturday. Let me know the time and place and I'll be ready to ride!

Since I have to come down from Everett lets make it the REI in downtown Seattle by the espresso cart(front door) around 10 am or so. Any other Seattle roadies want to join us for a ride around the north end of Lake Washington join us!

Had a really nice tour of the Seattle area this weekend. ngateguy and I met at REI on what must have been the nicest day so far this year for a bike ride.

In this picture you see the brave guide Dave climbing a rise in Mercer Island.

The ride took us along the western shore of Lake Washington, then east and back south to cross Mercer Island and return to Seattle, for a total journey of about 55 miles. There were some great views of Seattle. Here's a view of ngateguy finishing the bridge crossing.

Shortly after this picture was taken, the ride took a turn for the worse, when a malfunctioning seatpost slowed the ride down to a crawl. Luckily, at that point, we were only a few short miles from the post ride refreshments. Hope you got your ride working again Dave.

All and all a great ride. Thanks again Dave. Please give me a yell when you're Spokane. Plenty of riding to do out here.

I'm really sorry I couldn't meet up with you guys in time. I mised my flight up from the Bay Area the night before and had to catch a morning flight on Saturday. I did however get a late ride in and went up to Magnolia. Unfortunately, my camera's batteries were not at full charge and knowing I only had a few shots available before they went totally dead, I saved them for the lookout point at Magnolia Park.

Seattle, when the weather is nice, is an absolute fabulous place to ride. I lived there for many years, but wasn't into bicycling. When I moved to Spokane I took up bikes and feel that Spokane is even a better place to ride. So little traffic, so many rural roads, and so much beautiful scenery and many hills to ride.
