Track Cycling - Kids bikes?

Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.

Me and my two daughters, 9 and 10 years old are interested in starting track racing next spring. I'm wondering what bikes the youngsters ride on the track? Also what type of pedals and shoes are recommended for young riders? Thanks.

This is what one FGF member did (http://www.fixedgearfever.com/modules.php?name=Forums&file=viewtopic&t=5230) for his 6 year old:
There are 650c track frames around. Fuji made a production run of the Track line. They have one of those for a rental at my track.
If your velodrome has a mailing list or contact, that would be the best place to start.

The junior program at ADT has riders, I believe as young as 8, riding Fuji track's. My daughter started out on a Winsor Hour, same bike as the Fuji, when she was 10. As for pedals she likes Shimano spd-sl, and Performance has decent shoes for growing feet.

Havnoonian (http://www.hhracinggroup.com/) also builds some very small kids bikes.
I've heard that they had some kind of exchange program for kids bikes as they get bigger, but don't know if they still do or what details they might have.
