I am so pumped! I completed a century today in 5:45, including three food breaks, which is over an hour better than last year's time. It was the Maywood Earth Ride, outside of Sheboygan, WI and what a day! Started out at 60F, ended up at 80F, sunshine, some wind, and bea-u-ti-ful country roads through God's country. The route took us into the northern Kettle Moraine, so there were a few climbs on the outbound journey, tasty food (sorry, no pie, but lots of Cousins subs - yum!), and only one crash that I heard about. It just goes to show you, 50 is nothing! Tonight, I celebrate. Join me, please.

5:45 total time including stops - you must be very close to the elusive 5hr (20mph average) century - I am jealous! My best has been just south of 18mph but there is a flat one coming up in two weeks...
I just celebrated (not with pie - but a bananna split)!
I *so* hope that wasn't your "ride my age" ride... ;)
Congrats!

You're right; it's just the beginning of the better half of life.
Congratulations on a great ride!
Congradulations, I hope to do a century some day but it will be a few months if not years

Ooooo. You're riding way too fast. It's not healthy. :) You won't have anybody with whom to ride.

Mojo, there's no such thing as too fast, only too fast for me. :roflmao2: Anyway, thanks everyone for the encouragement, I really appreciate it (and, no, I didn't ride by age). Speaking of age, I just learned that I now qualify for the blue-striped parking stalls at the Y, which are reserved for seniors. Come winter in Milwaukee, there actually might be a plus side to this over 50 thing!

Fast time, enjoy it while you can. Write a diary on the ride on Word. Let you kids see it.

Nice ride! :thumb:
Soon, you'll be looking for guys to ride with, that can take turns pulling, so you all can get sub 5 hrs.

Good job -- great time!
It's amazing how energized you feel after such an accomplishment, especially given the length of the ride.
Sounds like a beautiful ride all the way around.
