Northern California - Which shop in San Mateo County for accessories, gear and other kit?

Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.

I'm set (for now) in terms of bikes, but I'm slowly gearing up the related kit. I'm currently in weekday commuter and occasional weekend recreational mode.

What shops in the area are the better ones for gear and accessories? I know I can order stuff on the internet, but I also like to browse in person and buy locally if possible, especially if the staff knows their stuff.

I searched this forum, but most shop-related threads seemed to be about buying bikes or dealing with service issues.

Cheers,

JT

Talbots Cyclery.
There's also CyclePath but I don't recall how much gear they sell.

Chain Reaction, in Redwood City, has a nice selection of gear. Summit, in Burlingame, would be my second choice.

REI, in San Carlos, seems to be clearing out the cycling gear for winter and they have slim pickings right now.

Thanks for the tips everyone. I was heading home from an appointment in the Menlo Park area today when I spotted Chain Reaction and thought "hmmm, wonder about that one." But I was running late so I didn't stop there or at REI in San Carlos, which had been my original plan. But they're on my radar for sure....cheers

Chain Reaction in Redwood City is a very good bike shop. They have a very useful web site as well. http://www.chainreaction.com/

I've heard good things about Passion Trail Bikes in Belmont, as well (mostly for mountain bikes). http://www.passiontrailbikes.com/
