Heavy indestructible nice riding Schwinn. Did I say heavy, think 35 to 40 pounds. Schwinn made them by the millions in the 60s/70s. These are not particularly rare or collectible. They also made them in the 1940s/50s and these are somewhat rarer and are collectable. The early ones evolved from 3 speeds 1946 to 1958 up to a Super Continental 15 speed in 1963. They were Schwinns first mass produced derailleur bikes. Roger

Better than a Varsity due to the tubular front fork and center pull brakes. Nice as a neighborhood rider or commuter.

If you can find a 1960 model in great shape, it is worth big bucks.

Yeah, if you need a bike, grab it. You could always sell it when you find a better bike. Keep in mind as others replied, IT IS HEAVY. If you have to lug it up stairs or load onto a roof, find a lighter bike.

Thanks, John E for ruining my day. Two days ago a 1960 Schwinn was listed on my local CL. It was all original, single owner.Suicide shifter, headbadge said Arnold Schwinn. Listed for $100 obo. My email went unanswered.

40 lbs of heavy metal . . . imported components stating " Schwinn Approved".

Nice riding bike, mine is a '69 Varsity (built December of 68). Mine is a smaller frame, the smallest frame size besides a woman's frame, and it weighs 37 pounds. They aren't too bad to carry on steps. I mainly use it to commute on dry days and as a utility bike, heavy duty front rack and towing a trailer.
