my friend is getting a new bike.. he's selling his 2002 rockhopper..

here's his description:
"it's a 2002 rockhopper comp with xt rear derailleur, new deore shifters and brake levers, new rear rim, front rim in good shape, and easton ea70xc handlebars and ritchey stem, and i'll give you tires that have 20 miles on em. oh, i forgot to mention it has a wtb seat and an american classic seatpost"

$330 is what he's asking..

good deal or no?

just looking for an entry level bike really, it would either be this or a 2004 hardrock sport.. <$350 is what i'm goin for and both of those fit the bill..

thanks in advance guys.

That's not a bad price for the 2002 as long as it's still in good shape. For equal money though, I'd go for the newer bike. Warranties are good for the original purchaser, and the components on the new one are fair.

The fork on the 2004 isn't great, but neither is the one on the 2002. Esentially, the 2002 is a better bike, but not significantly better.

I'd offer him $275 and see if he's willing to come down to maybe $300!

For $300, it's a good buy! Actually for $330 it's a good buy, as long as he's willing to take it in for you if there's a warranty problem.

all those upgrades make it really nice for its price...definetly try to get it fro 300 but if not as A2 said...330 is also a nice price if everything is in working order

i'd personally go with the rockhopper instead of the 04 hardrock.

If it has rimbrakes then ok, the 2002 models were having problems with the seatstays collapsing due to discs.
