So , this is the fist full week that I have been able to ride my new road bike . Didn't have to dodge one single Hurricane or Tropical storm this week :D . So I've managed to log a few miles , and learn a few things during my first week . First the stats , logged 155.8 miles from Sunday to Saturday in 9.20 hours . I think this times will get cut down , as this past week I was adjusting from a MTB to staying on the road . but I feel very good , which I was very surprised about since I did my 1st 50 mile ride Friday , with nothing but 15-20knt head winds for 25 miles . A story from my Sunday ride . Earlier in the week I had found a nice 25 mile loop , with very little traffic of any kind . So I head back that way and as pleasantly surprised to see quite a few folks peddling ( mostly them skinny folks ) but every one of em waved and said a pleasant hello . So I heading back home when I see I guy pulling out from one of the side road and he's a good 150 yards ahead . I am thinking cool , I'll crank it up a bit catch up say hey may be meet someone my size my weight that I can ride with , so I am cranking away slow but surely closing the gap , this goes on for nearly 7 miles , and I can only get with 30 yards of this guy , I see him looking back , and I am thinking oh hell , I am never gonna catch up so I back off a bit catch my breath , and pull up next to this guy at the light . Made sure I didn't stop right up in his space , and say " hey how ya doing to day " with the intent of saying " damn your fast " never made it that far . Guy literally looks me up and down , give a dismissive huff and say's "sup" and inches forward. I am thinking damn that rude and let it go . Light changes and I watch Mr. Dismissive attempts to clip in no once but twice and then crumple as he crosses the street . ( he was ok , well except for the ego part of em ) .

Lesson learned : Karma can be a ***** , be nice to everyone ;-) and as my 11 year old daughter told me as she was watching me log the miles " dad its not how fast you get there its what you on the way "

Yeah 155 is a lot of miles to pull in a week for us mere mortals. Good job!

As far as some of the characters you meet on the road, just shake it off. Maybe he dont want anyone encroaching on his ride, or maybe he's just a perpetual grouch. Who knows. The point is, just keep doing what you're doing, riding your road bike for fun and fitness.

Welcome to the dark side. :D

Yeah, don't let some dick on the road get you down... everyone's gotta live with themselves, right? That is probably punishment enough for some !

Keep up the good work!
