It seems to me the fact that there is a meltdown about accountability on Bikeforums.net every 3-6 months is indicative of a problem with accountability. The only people who seem to think everything is hunky-dory no longer have to worry about it.

If you read the banned users thread, they banned an advertiser. Hmmm.:D

Miamijim, while I respect you and you've been extremely helpful to me in the past regarding C&V fun stuff, I have to disagree with you regarding your analogy. You are not my parent, nor do you have the right to be so paternalistic. You and the mods/admins are supposed to moderate the forum and not cry wolf every single time someone gets upset. I agree that the road forum has some personalities, but if you look at the forum as a culture instead of a bunch of 'kids' running around, you'd understand that it takes some time to get acclamatized to a new culture.

Once you get through that break in period, you know how to treat people and know their 'personality'. Getting rid of all the threads that display 'personality' removes all aspects of culture from a forum such as this. I understand that this is supposed to be a clean and on topic forum, but you have to add something that detracts from the monotony in order to have some sense of community. We're not all just drones answering questions, we (just like you) go off topic every now and then and have some fun with each other for funs sake. At the end of the day there are no hard feelings. Newbies need to be told not to freak out when someone sends a sarcastic quip their way.
