So I posted a while back about a Peugeot that was offered to me. well, I finally was able to check the bike out. The owner graciously kept it for me until we both had time to get together. Very nice bike. His father bought it for him in 1971 or '72. He rode it to school and then it was retired when he got a driver's licence. The bike languished in a garage until his father rebuilt it in the '90's in the hopes someone would ride it. Never happened and the bike stayed hanging in the garage.
The original leather saddle has long since dissolved and I'm not sure if the simplex rear deraileur and shifters are original. The rear deraileur is flat black in colour. You'd think it would be chrome in the early '70's. Can anyone verify that?
It has Mafac racer brake calipers and Mafac brake levers.
The rims are Rigidas and are in very nice condition. All in all, it shouldn't take much to get the bike road ready. It still has the chrome fenders with built in front and rear lights and a generator(the rear lense is busted). I'll probably take those off to lighten the bike a little and I'll store them away.
The serial number on the bottom of the frame is: 2218235
The pics included are from the PO. I plan on taking some better pictures once it's cleaned.
Can anyone give any details on the model of this bike?
Thanks!
