it's very rare, but does happen.
Last year we had a cyclist and roller blader collide on a MUP path resulting in the (helmeted) cyclist dying and a couple of years ago, 2 cyclists collided on a Littleton, Colorado bike path where one (helmeted) cyclist died.
People die falling out of beds, chewing pens, and mowing lawns. It's important to place these things into context and not get to worked up about remote possibilities.

Wonder if they wouldn't wear the free helmets because they fasten with the devils latches, instead of buttons?

apparently Amish kids like to draft...this accident could've easily been avoided but it is shocking to hear two bicycles colliding resulting in death instead of the usual car and bike.

I find it interesting that when the Amish are involved in bicycle accidents that the brand and model of the bicycles are mentioned. You never hear that with the English.

I'm glad that the law enforcement officer warned all the readers to wear their helmets. Whew!
Do the Amish read the local newspaper? Wouldn't they be upset to see their addresses disclosed in the paper?
