i was looking to get a 2003 cannondale f1000 on sale for a good price but unfortunately they didn't have my size and the 2004 f1000 are a bit out of my price range so i started looking for other options. i saw a 2003 giant tcr elite 1 for 1100 dollars what do you think? regular price was like 2200 2300 dollars (i think) and the build is similar to the 1000 with exception of the wheelset. i rode it for about 15-20 minutes and it fit pretty good, i felt comfortable in the cockpit, and the carbon fork and carbon rear end might help with a smoother ride. i tried to find some reviews and info on the web but can't find all that much, does anyone have any experience on this bike or have anything to say about it......thanks :D

If you like the ride of compact geo, it is a nice bike. It's a bit heavier than the R1000 (I am guessing that you meant R for road, not F, which for Cannondale is a mountian bike), but if it's in your price range, go for it. I've ridden that model, it's not my cup of tea but it is a very good bike.
The geometry of the TCR Elite is different from that of other TCR road bikes and from that of the R1000.
This bike was not designed as a full out racing bike. It is more of a fast tourer hence the alu/carbon frame.
I looked at the TCR1 full carbon myself and decided against it! Why, I didn't care for the compact design and the wheelset was kind of thrown on (Mavic Cosmos) instead of a wheelset more appropriate to the bike (Ksyrium). It was LIGHT though!! It really depends on what you want to do with it. I opted for a Lemond Buenos Aris (steel) with a better wheelset and a much smoother ride (not as light though).
My two cents for what it is worth!!

oops yes i meant R1000, as you can probably guess i'm a mountain biker first:) i don't plan on racing this bike will be used primarily for tour/training/fitness. will this bike fit the bill? i'd like the bike to be zippy though. is this a good price or should i be looking for a different bike------thanks
