I'm looking for a frame I can tour on (35-45lbs. loads) and still have fun riding on the road, something fast and nimble. Here's what I'm looking at:

-Surly Cross-check
-Soma Speedster
-Soma Double Cross
-Gunnar Crosshairs

Any experience, suggestions?

Thanks.

All beautiful bikes. I have a surly Cross check and its great and fast. The only complaint (which isnt valid being a cross frame) is how high the weight (me sits) with the high bb. I also have a 60cm frame though...

What kind of tires/brake do you want to run? Surly has the largest tire clearance (45mm?) while the speedster is prolly the least (dont know stats). Also the speedster doesnt give you the OPTION of v-brakes/cantis; which is nice to have.

All will handle the task with no complaints though.
