I am thinking about swapping over my Campy Veloce 9 speed group (10 year old) to a cross build. Has anyone used the 9 Spd Veloce Ergo levers with success for cross?

Don't do it...send them to me ;)

Actually, a pretty popular 'cross conversion is the 'Shimergo' where you use your 9 speed Campy Ergos with 8 speed Shimano rear der. and cassette. Gives you loads more maneuvarability, IMHO, because you can use 8 speed road mechs, 8 speed MTB mechs, long cage, short cage, etc...Cassettes and wheels are easier to find and typically cheaper.

I've seen it done lots.

I'm using a 9 speed Campy Veloce drivetrain with a conversion pulley and a Shimano cogset. Don't know if it works well under all conditions, but it has worked for the three races I've done so far.

That's what I've been running on my cross bike.

OP, If your 9spd Ergos are pre-2001, they'll pull a different amount of cable/shift than 2001 and later 9spd campy shifters.

A nice combo is old 9speed shifter, new campy rear der. (10spd), and a shimano 8 spd cassette. Buttery smooth, when it's dialed in correctly.
