The only road wheels I have at the moment are a pair I bought through craigslist for cheap- some stock wheelset from a 2006 or 2007 giant bike. 32 hole Alex da19 rims w/ formula (cup and cone) hubs. The front are radial laced.

They're on my motobecane fantom cx, they've been working fine and held up good even with some rough-stuff riding. I was planning on getting an open pro/ultegra pair for the bike but money is a bit tight so I don't think I'll be able to race this bike unless I use the wheels I have. I have my rob roy built for racing so I may only do a couple races with the motobecane... so you think these budget wheels can handle a couple races?

fair nuff.

i train on cheapo road wheels. they might be a little heavier than you'd like, but i wouldn't say they're any more or less likely to taco than any other standard road wheels. go for it!
