Currently have no rear wheels and I have have a promise of sorts to be able to ride a long distance on thursday/friday and I do want to be able to do that and/or ride my bike sometime in the near future since I usually commute 3 days a week on it.
The timeline probably puts anything custom out of the question. This bike is a recumbent and it has 26" disc wheels that I use 1.35" tires on. I'm 250 the bike will be fit out at probably 40lbs and 60% of the weight is on the rear and you can't much standup to ease and bad spotin the road so a heavier/stronger rim/wheel is in order.
If possible I don't want a throw away wheel. Maybe something that can be a backup for when I get a decent set or if I decide to try and ride on the mavics again, though the replacement probably will get sold.
Any ideas on a realiable 26" disc non wide rimmed wheel? I looked throught the sticky and it is mostly custom and/or 700c wheels. I may unfortunately be stuck with whatever the LBS, Local Performance or REI has.
Background..
Soooo.
I was happily running some mavic cross wheels that were holding up really well. Over 2000 miles and not even out of true then last wednesday I noticed a slight wobble when I was rolling. No broken spokes, not loose in the quick release but a slight wobble could be seen. Rode it home and eventually noticed cracking at some eyelets and splitting of the rim one or two others with where the wobble was. They may get warranteed eventuatually but that may be long off.
I took out my original wheels for the bike and replaced a few broken spokes but that is bust the rim won't straighten out and it has a ding or two so I can't really really trust it.
