Why... oh... why didn't I pick up a DirectTV dish when I was in the US last fall?

Take a look at what we get on OLN in Canada. I'm sure they'd like to broadcast cycling but with this much quality programming they can't accomodate everyone. :crash:

I hear you F1.

What really burns my butt, though, is OLN Canada's website is usually chock-a-block with cycling stories (most of them old), yet they continue to ignore the sport on their tv station until July. Oh yeah, they also ignore my emails imploring them to pick up the cycling broadcasts from OLN America.:(

Mine are ignored as well. Here's a list of the cycling coverage that Americans will see this year and Canadians will not. I should note that I include the Giro in this list but we do get that in Canada... on an Italian channel. If you like hyper-active announcers speaking in Italian, it's great. I have to mute the sound.

F1, at least you don't have hours on end of Pro Bull Riding. Granted those guys have to be in shape to do that. I am far from a PETA type but sometimes have to wonder if that is really a sport.
Sorry in advance to all you PBR fans out there but I'd rather see more cycling and less PBR.

Trust me, we did get that last year, the Tour was delayed during the Calgary Stampeede.
I don't mind that they show it, but when coverage of the Tour begins at a quarter past my bedtime.... I get grumpy!!

i've been comp[laining to oln canada for several years.

me: "you know, the tour de france isn't the only bike race."

oln: "that's nice."

me: "there is a whole untapped market out there, eager for this stuff."

oln: "that might be true, but we would have to make room from our existing programs."

me: "considering that you repeat luberjack challemge and the world's strongest man several times a week, that shouldn't be too difficult."

oln: "those programs have very strong followings."

Hehe... I was watching World's Strongest Woman last night. I love how bizarre the events are. The best part, though? When the ad for Paris-Nice came on. I about crapped my pants I was so excited.

Don't remind me fellow canadians. HOw can those idiots at no-LN honestly believe that while americans love to watch paris nice, we would prefer to watch Bowflex ads? Like audiences are so different. So as usual, we get stuck with crap. However, we DO get TLN as someone pointed out, and they might show Milan san remo on tape delay. Check the website for the schedule! And last year, they showed about an hour a night of the Giro. The only problem was that they didn't show it on weekends which meant missing the big mountain stages, like the Zoncolan and ALpe Pampeago. As for it being in italian, so what, Italian is the language of cycling! It's not like we can't understand what's happening. I like listening to them !

But I also wish I had Dish tv!

You guys got to see the worlds last year and we didn't.

That's something I guess.

Yes, there are a few things we get to see, like the worlds. CBC airs coverage of the road, track and MTB worlds every year, not live of course. This year's road champs were an exception, most of it was live. And RDS shows coverage of local quebec races like Mt Ste Anne and Tour de la Beauce. And of course, we get olympic coverage, live, on two networks regardless of time differences. So we will get to see the time trials, road races, etc, while americans are stuck with NBC's horrible coverage. In that sense I really feel bad for those stuck with NBC. However you guys still get more channels, and get to see more cycling than we do.

They could really give a rat's #ss about what we want. It's all about money. OLN Canada doesn't wanna pony up the cash for Canadian rights to OLN America's cycling coverage, but Bowflex will pay to get their informercial on tv.

And then the regulators wonder why we resort to piracy!

A little bit of good news for Canadian cycling fans; OLN Canada is picking up OLN's Behind The Scenes series, the 13-week half-hour show that will follow Lance and USPS as they prepare for the Tour. It begins April 29.

I noticed that Roubaix isn't live 2 hours like last year, but a 1 hour tape delay. That really sucks! But better than nothing, like we get here. However, I noticed some other races are live, like the Fleche Wallone. I have to get dish tv.There's a guy I know who has it, as well as a huge screen-he's really rich. He invites people over to watch but he's such a creep, I can't stand the idea of going over to his house. NOt even for paris roubaix, which gives you an idea how I dislike him.

What channels are good for cycling? RAI? Eurosport? French 2 and 3?
I wonder how easy they are to get in the US.

Everyone, take note that OLN suddenly decided to cover the Amstel Gold Race.

Yay!
