Foo - Photo Contest with Prizes: "How Fred can ya Get?"

Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.

How Fred can ya Get? (Photo Contest with Prizes)

As you've all seen, we have a new membership level. It's Titanium, with the Titanium Club. The Club, as it's currently envisaged is a kind of Super Foo. We chose Titanium because Ti is a premium material used in bike construction, so we thought it was appropriate for a bike forum. :D The Ti benefits are greater than the old Red Star membership, with the following features.

Bike Forums Titanium Membership Benefits include:
*
- Access to Titanium Members only Forum
- Ability to embed video in posts
- Search Social Groups Link on Navbar Search
- Ability to create Forums inside social groups. (SocialForums 1.4)
- Custom Smilies (MySmilies VB (v3.7.0)
- Mini YouTube Video in Profile (right side block)
In the works…
Comprehensive Ignore System – for customization…ignore your friends!

The development team is also working on other options as well.

So, to kick this off, we're running a photo contest, bike related, and the theme is “How Fred can you get?” (Isn't the dissonance kind of fun, a Fred and Ti?)

All we ask is that they be natural images, no photoshopping (except to perhaps enhance and clean up a photo). There will be a panel of six moderators scoring these photos on style, comedic value, and originality. Have some fun with this, and try for one of 10 free Titanium Upgrades to be given away.

Format can be jpeg, GIF (not animated!), or whatever other format the forum will accept. You can host them on any of the net hosts or on our servers, either one. Let's see those Freddish pictures, and take a shot at the Ti!

The contest officially starts Wednesday, Sept 24th and will run for a week. Wednesday, Oct 1, the thread will close and we will start the judging. Good luck and get snapping those shutters. :D

Red stars in existence are going to continue, but there will be no more red star memberships offered. Ti is the replacement upgrade membership.

Women can be Fred's too, Siu.

I believe I sold that bike shortly thereafter...I was prolly marketing it toward the ladies, being it was on the small side (The gal who bought it didn;t seem to mind the shiny jolly candy-like red bell:D).

That was a neat bike...Fredalicious, but nice to be able to lock up and not worry...ahh, the beauty of fredness

ring a ding ding

Hey man that thing comes in handy...I don't like yelling at people who are stupid enough to wander through red lights, etc in front of me...so it's either the bell (which was free), one of those semi horns (effective, but I'm too cheap/lazy), or an elbow to take 'em out (works in a pinch:thumb:)

Here's my go. It's a nice arty, pretentious self-portrait. I realized if I took the photo at speed, the background would be a blur while my shadow isn't. I was actually being chased by a fire truck at the time too.

considering that the photos are marked on "style, comedic value, and originality", you're batting 0 for 3.

Where is the contest for those with style? This contest excludes most club riders and almost all racers; sure we could dress down, but nobody can beat the dude with the rain shield and tron suit.

When did the forum decide to push away elitist jerks.. ya know, the real cyclists? ;)

A wee bit, although the brass one was from Rivendell back before VO had them. And before every single vintage bike on the internet had them as well.

A wee bit, although the brass one was from Rivendell back before VO had them. And before every single vintage bike on the internet had them as well. :lol:Ah, Rivendell would have been my second guess. VO has a ridiculous amount of really cool old-style equipment these days, and for great prices.

What kind of sound does that bell make, by the way? I've had my eye on it. Is it the "ring-ring" style, or just a solid "ding!"?

This is not me, but it's worth mentioning him again, I took the photos. He drops a lot of people, he's surprisingly fast.

Knee and elbow pads. Turn signals that beep. Two flags. Air zound. Space bar for more stuff. That bike is named "Inferno". It's on the top tube in stick on letters! Back up bike (Sun Streaker) is yellow.

Not using an Ipod, using a CD player. General Lee shirt! Always carries duct tape, and has successfully fixed two flats by wrapping the tube with the duct tape. I've seen it myself. Never will have a license, rides every day. Carries coffee milk. Lights on the valve stems, I think four taillights. A small LED and a Halogen headlight. Sings to the music while riding in the dark. (loudly). Tall white socks and black sneakers.

Can anyone here even come close?

Maybe he should get honorable mention, as he can't be a real entry.

If you pull the striker down and let go, it makes a "ding-ding" sound but it's quiet. If you pull the striker straight out to the side, away from the bell, it makes one, loud "DING". And the brass one sounds very good, the alluminum one just sounds like an Incredibell.

They're all in Road Cycling, making fun of Freds.

Which means that they won't win the contest, because they don't want to be Freds.
