Recumbent - Watch your nuts!

Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.
Just tossing this out there for any newbies like myself. I just got back from a ride and I discovered a hazard I never gave a thought to. It's fall now and the leaves are dropping from the trees. So are the acorns, walnuts, and any other type that grow over the trails. I went zipping through a pile of leaves and didn't see all the walnuts on the trail. It is fortunate that you don't have to fall as far on a bent!! Acorns seem to be a nuisance but I discovered ( the hard way) that walnuts will put you on the turf! I'll go a little easier through those leaves from now on!!

Also watch for twigs that can roll like a pencil when you ride over them. Losing front wheel traction for even an instant can be very scary.

I keep close eye on mine. Normally I ride with one hand cupping them. Especially when I pass cuties on the trial. Is that wrong?
Cupping with both hands could cause a steering problem! Don't run into the cuties!
