decided i was done looking in from the outside on this forum(felt like a wallflower) and say hey-

i recently moved to philadelphia, and as convenient as it was to use public transportation to get around, it really wasn't- so- i decided to pick up my first bike since i was 8 years old(23 now) and start kicking my oil addiction-

i was lucky enough to have found a used '06 black surly cross check(pics to come) thanks to craigslist- and as far as i can tell it's a perfect match- :)

it makes me wonder why i walked everywhere i did and didn't get a bike sooner-

anyhow-

i decided i'd post here first instead of anywhere else b/c i feel most at home here- i'm certainly no road racing athlete...yet, and i'm no fixed gear hipster...yet, and i'm not a cyclocross addict...yet either, but i think everyone here likes to have fun on and off the pavement and that's what i like too-

so hey, new to the scene, gonna have lots of questions- please don't hate :(

See how much you can use your 'cross bike for ... commute on it, throw some slicks on it and do a road ride out into the country, get some knobbies and find some local singletrack trails, then get some panniers (saddle bags) and go on a weekend touring trip. Seriously, one of the things I love most about 'cross bikes is how ridiculously versatile they are. That's the perfect style of bike to end up with after a long break from cycling. This'll get you back at it and let you try all sorts of different rides using the same bike.

Have fun!

Welcome to the addiction. There is no cure. Riding only drives you deeper into the hole of cycling addiction.

<---Addict since 2006, 5 bikes and counting.

:( (at least it's not as expensive as the motorsports hobby i almost jumped into) :D
