I am moving to Washington state next week. I have a job and I got insurance.
I am going back to being a life guard and an instructor.

the bad part is, I have to leave my bikes for now.

not even 1?

c0urt

not even 1. it cost more than my plane ticket to fly out with a bike.

thinking I might take groupset with me. and buy a frame next month.

congrats on the job, for one.
for two, don't sweat the small stuff. it will all work out in the end.
besides, its going to be cold there compared to where you're at, and until you HTFU you might not want to ride anyway ;)

you should just dump all clothing out from your luggage and stuff the bike in it instead. :innocent:

Or you could pack all your stuff in panniers and ride out there. Can you imagine how cool that would be?

Congratulations! If I lived there I'd probably have a frame you could have.

Heh, seems like a decent idea.

How about buying something used and just selling it when you get your other bikes?

what I would suggest as well....just something decent for $100-200 to keep you going ...could always flip it later.

Cool....we're gonna be semi-neighbors now. Awesome!!

We got to get a meet up C0urt!!

Maybe its time for a Seattle area meetup when c0urt gets here. CliftonGK1, Mill Creek, HardyWeinberg, SteveSurf (if he ever makes it back for a business trip), keithm0 and probably half a dozen others I'm forgetting.

What size bike do you ride c0urt? Maybe you could borrow my old "comfort" bike (Trek Navigator) for a while until you can get your own bikes up.

You forgot me  ...stringbreaker, kpug, poppaddio, BengeBoy, and probably another 20 or so who I've forgotten (but I am older than you are, so I can get away with it).

Yeah, a meetup would be great!

Sounds like you need yourself a folding bike, c0urt. ;)

Congratulations on the job and the insurance. Hopefully the new neurologist can give you something more than a shrug.

KingTermite

What time are you coming in c0urt? And where exactly are you heading?

I may be able to if its late enough to be post-work hours and are going somewhere easy to find (I still don't know area too well).

Sorry man. I'd love to help out, but I don't think I can pull that off. Not only is it too early, but I've never been over to Kitsap; I'd probably get us both lost.

Maybe somebody from the new job would be nice enough to pick you up. Otherwise, your cheapest bet is probably the airport shuttle.

Take the train. Big bike boxes provided for cheap. Two bikes=40 bucks I think total. You can also bring four more boxes plus two carryons for not much!

Actually, a very special train does to go Kitsap County. Or at least it used to. It was called the 'white train' and was used to carry Trident missile nuclear warheads from Amarillo Texas to the sub base at Bangor. It was last used in 1985. The Navy now uses trucks to transport the warheads instead.

Every now and again, being a native of the Seattle area is useful for dredging up these old facts.

I worked with Trident Missiles for a brief time.

c0urt, are you moving here empty? My g/f and I consolidated our kitchen and dinnerware and such and could probably give you a decent amount of plates, glasses, storage containers and various kitchen stuff if you need it.
