ummm....I resemble that remark (at least in my taste in music, I haven't looked like that since the 80's)

Well, they did stop making fans like that in the 80's. The new designs are much more streamlined.

I took the cowling off of my plastic fan, but it just doesn't mangle fingers like a metal one can.

Copper is nice, but not a huge amount of copper. Maybe a pound or two.

Damn. I was hoping that the thread title was a serious one. I had a picture of a huge metal fan already picked out. Alas, it was too easy to be true.

^Haha. That's why they put brakes on them now, or feather them, or both. That one's brakes must've failed or something.

Most likely its the ones where the brakes failed, causing it to spin out of control. At least the blades were not thrown a great distance as one of the YouTube vids of a small one showed.

I'm 6 and a half feet tall and weigh an eighth of a ton. I'm a huge fan of anything I'm a fan of.

Are we talking metric ton or standard ton?

Windmills are like the opposite of fans.

incorrect. A fan can be used as a windmill. An electric motor is pretty much the same as a generator.

Use things all the time in ways they weren't intended to be used. :D

not really...
A generator needs something external to turn it. A motor does the turning.
Both have copper windings though.

take an electric motor and turn it, and electricity can be generated. This is how a lot of home tinkerers start out generating small amounts of electricity. I know, because I have been looking into doing so myself.

This is true. You will need something external to turn the rotor to make it a generator.

Standard ton.

2000 / 8 = 250
