A bicyclist was killed Tuesday afternoon at the intersection of Joe Morgan Way and 66th Avenue, near the Coliseum in East Oakland.
Jim Dawson, 44, of Oakland, was hit by a truck after he rode into the busy intersection at 4:27 p.m., according to the Alameda County Coroner's Bureau.
He died in surgery at Highland Hospital.
That's only a couple of blocks from my commute.
