Texas - The Second annual RollAid 2009 - Coast to the Coast

Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.

Hey, TXVintage - any word on the marine you said was coming out from NC to ride with us? Name? Contact info?
I've forwarded all the info to him and given him links. He's on track as far as I know, well, at least a week or so ago.
I'll follow up, and keep trying to work through my slight complication of suddenly needing to be two places at once.

Good to hear from y'all Tate. I couldn't change my vacation, so Marcelo and I are here at home today, thinking of y'all and wondering how the wind is treating you (it was about 20-30 mph here today.)
So how did the ride go?
I was looking forward to reading about it one the website.
Ride went great, Steve and Dave were the only 2 that rode the whole thing, including the 155 or so from San Antonio to Portland.
Again riding with the Vets, to see their pride, comitment, and courage to ride in any and all conditions, to put themslefes out there will make up for ANY issues we had. In Corpus it was in the low 40s raining, and all the soldiers came to ride, the 300+ that prepaid and any day of's only had a minimual turn out, and only a few rode the whole thing. The hand cyclist were mad that after the 1st loop, over 23 miles they were pulled off the course due to "time" Talk about heart and drive.
I guess other than the riding with the soldiers my big thing was Sat morning Dave, Steve, and I rode across the bay bridge. The down side was a little scarry with the rain, smooth pavement, and big expansion joints, got rolling near 30 and it was slippery and smooth. Did a couple days over 70 miles and one over 100 myself. Cliff did all but the 150 mile day and he did quite a bit of that, I'm guessing near 550 miles. Dad rode I'm guessing over 200 miles, I was just at 300 miles for the week.

Good times for sure. It's not epic unless there are some troubles right? Like 8 flats!!
These trips are starting to be a very good tradition, I'm honored to be part of them.

In the event you missed the ACM Awards last night, Trace Adkins performed with the West Point Glee Club in honor of the WWP.
You can purchase the performance through iTunes, and every purchase will benefit the WWP.
Look for the link on this page: http://www.cbs.com/specials/acma/
