My first race of the season is in 3 hours. I would like to go, but I have a cold and can't breathe too well. What's your advice?

I agree, if you're not running a temperature or having G/I issues, just do it.
Slather yourself in vapo-rub, make sure you're well-hydrated, and make sure to get warm and dry right after the race.

I'm going to try and do the whole race in my 42 x 12 because it's fastest gear. Should I swap in my 48 since it's not muddy?

Not going to Butte, unfortunately. Now I have a fever, and too much to do here anyways.
I should be able to catch a ride to Helena next weekend though. You going to be there? I'm not sure I understand what the race will be liek though: 3 stages including a dirt crit? Huh.

Umm, can't make it to Helana, but I'm trying to get a carpool together to drive to Bozeman on the 11th and 12th. Our season in Spokane doesn't start until October 18th. We're all itching to race!
