So yesterday the wifey and I had our 20-week ultrasound, and we made two important discoveries: 1. Our baby is healthy and all the anatomy is in the right place, and 2. IT'S A GIRL!!!! Woohoo! :) :) :)

Here are a couple of the cool 3D ultrasound pics of our little lady. :D

jesus, those scans are getting more and more detailed, or at the very least they're looking more and more Michelangeloesque (http://www.ablemuse.com/premiere/images/unfinished.jpg).

Yeah, the deal is that the probe can only be aimed at a very specific 3-D space for each individual image. So the ultrasonographer aims the probe and selects the area that contains, say, the face, and any extraneous stuff that's partially in the field, it looks fragmented and "Michelangeloesque." For instance, the lower pic has her knees curled up in front of her face--I assure you her legs aren't amputated below the knee. :)

It was incredible, though--the zoomed-in versions were so detailed that they were able to look at the individual chambers and valves of the heart, evaluate for a cleft lip, examine the whole spine, lungs, kidneys, diaphragm, etc. --Just ridiculously cool.

I think she has your pasty white skin, but other than that is quite cute. ;)

Congrats.

Man, those are some clear scans they have these days.

8 years ago, when I was looking at the ultrasound of my son, I was convinced that he would come out looking like charles laughton as quasimodo, with his left eye somewhere down in the middle of his cheek. My wife and I actually went back to the doctor, who assured us that we were probably just seeing shadows. (we were just seeing shadows)

I don't know, not such a bad deal. Unlimited food, temperature-controlled room, pretty quiet... I mean, sure, it's not spacious, but not bad for the price. ;)

I tried crawling back in one time, my mother clobbered me over the head with a meat pounder.

Yeah, it's a very different feel--somehow makes the whole having-a-kid thing a lot more real when you no longer have to use "it." :)

This is our first, too, so the reality is slowly creeping in.

Congrats! You are beginning an amazing journey.

By the way she got a pretty good aero position going there. I hope you have ordered her custom Cervelo with training wheels.

I have a HUGE expression of awe on my face!!

What an amazing emotional experience that must have been....the connection ultrasounds now give us is such a wonderful gift.

You’re outnumbered now.....in the best possible way :)
