We have been looking at folding bikes to keep in our plane. A friend has a z-bike that he likes a lot, but I can't find any info on the internet for the company. Anyone out there know about this bike?

Never heard of it, got a picture or some more info?
Would you perhaps also like a different one?

I think this old posting sums it up!:

Please do not buy a Z bike unless they have improved them vastly since I owned one ,they are horrid. The seatpost was too short (I am only 5' 8" but was folded up like a pretzel with the seatpost at maximum extension) Also the top gear as delivered was only 41" .Do yourself a favor get a New Dahon or a used one cheap off of E bay . If you are dead set against a Dahon get a 20 inch yeah but you will spend a lot of money to upgrade it . I know I have done it with a 16 inch it is doable but not worth the money.I like to tinker with my bicycles but I just ended up frustrated with the Z. James :( :( :(

Thanks for the info regarding the z-bike. Our friend that really likes his finds it a bit small but doable. He feels it rides well and the size is a real plus for stowing in the airplane. We did purchase a nice, clean used Dahon RV III the other we found locally on Craigslist for $50, very happy with that find! We are still going to purchase another bike so we both have one when traveling. Since these will be sporadic and lightly used we didn't want to put a lot of $$ into them.
