The French are good at using "code" words...this year the "code word" for riding clean is "to show your humanity". And, the French would like to see Armstrong show his "humanity" by getting beaten badly in the mountains.
Lucy loved to pull the football out from under Charley Brown's foot. Prudhomme says that Astana is "welcome" IF (and only if) the team satisfies him that they are "clean" and that they stay "clean" from now until July. Dick Pound says that it is not enough for Astana to have its OWN drug expert monitoring the team. He said being "clean" means passing tests for the same labs that will be running the tests during the Tour de France.
So, it should NOT be a shock if the Astana team is heavily tested during May and June, and the samples sent to Paris for testing...by the notorious Paris lab that tested the Landis sample.
And, that Paris lab is a very interesting lab. In the Landis hearing, the French lab technician says that she does not trust the results she gets from the machines. She says the lab's machines are unreliable, so she uses "white out" to eliminate the machine's results, and substitutes the results that SHE thinks are more appropriate. Both of her methods violate basic lab procedure...but, where is Landis today?
The French lab technician could not explain how her report was given to French newspapers BEFORE being provided to Tour officials or to Landis...in fact, the French newspaper had her report just hours after she handed the report to her supervisor.

If you are referring to the manual integration of the chromatography peaks that’s pretty common practice; the use of white out not so much. Secondly, the “result” that was modified wasn’t the actual data output from the detector but the post acquisition signal processing done by the software.
Independent scientists have looked at the signal output data and came to the same conclusions. In fact, the defense reprocessed the signal using their own software and the results came out even less favorably for Landis (more dope).
