We were up at our track building a new section. I put my bike down and went to look at our materials. My friend casually looked back at my bike and what did he see?
"You put your bike on a wasps nest"
"AHH S***"

So there wasnt much we could do, they were swarming around it and i had my phone in my camelbak with my bike too so we coudn't call anyone. We kept building until we hard my phone ringing so we got a huge plank and moved my camelbak and eventually the wasps moved away from my camelbak. I got my phone and rang hopper, my other friend who was coming up soon to help track build. No answer. I ring his home phone and his mum answers and says he just left. So we continue to build things and wait for him. Soon after i get a call and its him. He says he hit his pedal on his shin and he was home to clean it up. For once, i thanked him for it! I told him to grap a can of bugspray and come up. So eventually he gets up and we use the slight breeze to waft the spray over to them. Most of them fly away instantly. I run in to grab my bike whe i feel a sting on the side of my face. One bit me! (Luckily it didnt hurt much) My friend grabbed my bike and we got all our gear on and before we left, we emptied the spray into their nest!

Whew, im glad we got out of that one!

Funny story!..It's spring here so the bugs are coming out.
My bikes red, orange, yellow, little buggers are attracted to it like mad.
We have phat bumble bees here, HUGE!, my kid pets them, (they are soo sweet, nice insects) I've had one hit me in the face doing 30 mph downhill and almost bought it, can't believe it still stung me.. or maybe I rode right into it's stinger.

Heard horror stories of motercyclists getting wasps in the helmet and being repeatedly stung and trying to keep control.

I'll try to find the bee thread and tag it to this 'un.

He He i'm the hopper in the story. The best part was the guys weren't angry with me for being late or paying me out for slipping on my pedal. All because I brought the bug spray.

Future strategy:

Find a fallen tree branch and beat the **** out of their nest. Wasps will quickly abandon their nest if they're getting beat up (though they'll come back later).

Wasps may be bad but there small in number, the evil midge round here has to be the worst. They come in clouds and hide under trees waiting for you to ride past. You dont notice till your another 5min down the road when your face starts to get vvvv itchy

If that was me, I'd have ran screaming like a little girl. Sucks being allergic to them, as they are potentially life threatening to me :(
