Foo - Tattoos

Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.

I want to get another tattoo and am leaning towards one that is cycling based. Anyone have an idea where I could find info or pics that are relevant?

Have a black chainring mark tatooed on the wrong leg, just for the grins and when someone asks you how you get a chainring mark on the wrong leg, explain that you ride sitting backwards on the saddle sometimes, just for a break in the monotony!http://dune.servint.com/uploads/f_eyebrows.gif

I hate tattoos.
Heh. I don't hate tattoos, I just don't really see the whole purpose.

I have one on the small of my back and I'm going to get another on my thigh as a reward for staying raw for 30 days. Both are sort of a tribute to my deceased grandfathers.

Hey, as long as you're happy.:) It was about 15 years between my first and second, thanks to that stupid money thing.... My goal is to get at least one/year between now and when I kick the bucket.

i should see if my bro minds if i put a photo of his up. He has a pretty cool one. Not sure what the purpose of it is - but it is cool.
Hey, Mariner Fan, if you want ink in Indy, email Karen at tattoo.guide@about.com and she will guide you! She is the moderator at the tattoo site on about.com, and she just happens to live in Indy! Good luck!
What's the point of staining ones skin.
what's the point of riding a bike? what's the point of having a job? we all die, our bodies all decay, nothing's really going to last forever...
expression comes in many forms, to each their own.
expression for others to acknowledge or for personal satisfaction?
That's like asking what's the meaning of life? It's different for every person. For me, it was about turning emotional pain into physical, in an effort to let it go.

For me, it was a sacrifice.
expression for others to acknowledge or for personal satisfaction?
Do you wear clothing so that others acknowledge that your are part of normal society? Or maybe you wear clothing for your own personal satisfaction...
Clothes come off. Tattoos don't :).

Tattoos are a part of you. That is why you have to chose carefully.

Clothing? that's extraneous. Well, neither. Clothing's worn for protection, modesty, attraction, identification, ect. Expression is great, but using permanent ink, via staining skin pigment, seems bizzare.

to humans or to humans without UV lights?

Pets die, most marriages end in divorce, your house can burn down. Your body is most likely to stay with you throughout your life. It just seems natural. It's also the easiest way to remind yourself of something, since you see it every day (how much depends on where).

Nothing stopping you. I had the general idea for mine for over a year, just couldn't decide on the details of where. Then one night I realized I wanted my dog by my side and nothing else would do. Now she's on my right side smiling at me every morning. Exactly what I wanted, and needed.

There are a lot of people who will just walk into a gallery and have one done just for fun. Lauren took a while for hers and so did I. This is a permanent thing, not to be taken lightly. Took me 12 years to finalize mine.
I've never understood getting a tatt just to have one. For me it was all about the subject matter, not getting one to be badass or something (most people don't even know about it). If I get another one it will also feature animals. Paradise with a lion and lamb, who knows?

yeah im at the stage where i know i want one but i am also a person that likes to have meaning behind life and anything i do so i am just waiting patiently for the right tattoo idea to present itself to me. its not something i will force. it will just come to me i hope.
thanks for sharing your story with me :)
I have my ink slinger working up a new piece for me. Basically a new twist on an old theme. St. George and the Dragon... this time the dragon slays ol' George. :D
