If you could buy either of these, which would you choose and why? I'm leaning towards the 1500, but the Tourmalet looks nice too. Looking forward to any feedback.

I own both a Trek and a Lemond and I thought I could contribute a knowledgeable answer. But I'm not that familiar with the specs on these particular models. (And I'm too lazy to go searching...it is a ride day after all ;) ) Can you post some details or specs?

I cannot comment on the lemond, but I do have a new 1500 that I have been riding for about a month. So far I'm pretty happy with it. Qualitatively, it seems to be very fast, and before I put all of my commuting crap on it, it was fantastically light (to me anyway). Besides, with my new Brooks B17 Special saddle, I really like the way it looks - not that appearance is my primary criterion. :)

Of course, my last road bike was a 1979 Fuji Grand Tourer, so any of the new bikes of any quality are probably going to seem light to me.

Whichever one fits you best or the one on which you feel most comfortable. Test ride them both if you can and make a decision from there. Also, which color do you like best?
