Evening daylight is waning, so I'm starting to get all excited with all the recent flashlight threads. Then I stumble across the posts from those still waiting to receive them. So enough with what's-the-best-flashlight if it's made of unobtanium. I need one now, like within 5-7 days order-ship-deliver time...OK, maybe 7-10 days.

Who has any of the better flashlights (Fenix, P7s, others) in stock, ready to deliver? Who has actually obtained one in the last 2-3 weeks? Fromw where?

Dealextreme is good but takes 2 weeks to get....4sevens.com has the fenix lights and delivers within a few days. I have flashlights from both places, no complaints.

I ordered two fenix l2d q5's and lockblocks from 4sevens on Sunday September 7, and received them Friday September 12. No muss, no fuss, just good service.

BTW - they throw a LOT more light than the Ultrafazer 5.0 that I have on my other bike.

Thanks, guys! Zoste: 4seven's description (below) of the L2D leaves me baffled. Is turbo mode (130 lumens) only available as a strobe? Is 80 lumens the max output for constant light? I doubt that's right, but carefully reading their blurb might lead you to think that. I'm hoping it can shine 130 lumens with constant light for the noted 2.4 hours.

Two modes of output, selected by turning the bezel:
General Mode: 9 lumens (55hrs) -> 40 lumens (10.5hrs) -> 80 lumens (4hrs) -> SOS
Turbo Mode: 135 lumens (2.4hrs) -> Strobe

Operation
Depress the tailcap button to turn the light on and turn the bezel to select the mode. A fully-tightened bezel will select Turbo Mode, and a loosened bezel will select General Mode. Soft-pressing the tailcap button while the light is on will change the output level of the selected mode. Turn the light off for over two seconds and the regulative circuit will be reset.

If you end up wanting a Fenix or two from www.4sevens.com (http://www.4sevens.com), my experience has been receipt of ordered items in just a handful of days in almost every case. The only exception was when I preordered something that was not yet in stock.

But I also guess it depends on where you're located (to a certain extent). ;)

No it is constant or strobe, I don't use strobe. So no worries. It's a good light, maybe a little pricier than the DX lights but you won't be disappointed.

I'm not sure. I turn the thing on, make sure the bezel is tight (for its brighter setting) and ride. The way I read that, I'm in turbo mode, and that would match my battery life of about 3 hours. I'll have to try playing with them a little more when I get home.

Varuscelli: love your twin lights in your picture. What mounts did you use?

Make sure you're looking at the premium Q5 version of the L2D:

Sometimes the 4sevens site can be confusing. I think (unless I'm misinterpreting what you'd like) you want to make sure you're looking at their "Premium" lights, like on their page:

Limited/Premium Editions (https://www.4sevens.com/index.php?cPath=22_65)

Then follow that on to this link for the higher-output L2D.

Fenix Digital L2D Black Premium Q5 (https://www.4sevens.com/product_info.php?cPath=22_65&products_id=600)

That will get you into the 180 lumen range.

* General Mode: 12 lumens (55hrs) -> 53 lumens (10.5hrs) -> 107 lumens (4hrs) -> SOS
* Turbo Mode: 180 lumens (2.4hrs) -> Strobe

On the turbo and strobe modes, what is meant is that if you're in turbo mode, strobe mode can be entered into at the same intensity (180 lumens turbo, 180 lumens turbo strobe).

Those are the TwoFish Lockblocks as availabe also from 4sevens.com.

Here's the little girly-man bike I like to ride now. I catch a lot of flack for the bike, but not for the lights and lockblocks. :p

I've actually ridden with the configuration below a few times and love it (these on the handlebar and a P3D on the helmet).

Yes - good catch on the Premium version, guys. 180 lumens trumps 130 lumens!

Varuscelli: Sorry to bug you about the mounts, but on this computer, I only got the "x" place holder in place of what (link?) you put there.

4sevens was great- They shipped quickly and one of the lockblocks arrived broken, but they promptly sent me a replacement.

8% code. Dang. I ordered two L2D Q5 and a 3-pack of lockblocks earlier yesterday afternoon. Got email confirmation this morning they've already shipped. Cool! Was disappointed they do their payments through Paypal, though. I really don't want Paypal to have my credit card info.

Thanks to everyone who chimed in. The days are shorter; didn't want to be left in the dark waiting for the perfect light. I'm hoping these are "good enough" even if they "could be better".

Our server has been up and down as partially related to our recent Hurricane Ike difficulties. It's down again (as of this morning), but hopefully only briefly.

I didn't pick up on whether or not you were already using some kind of bike light or had past experience with bike lights, but the Fenix L2Ds do a pretty darn good job as a flashlight used for bike/cycling light. If you don't have experience with other bike lights, you'll be amazed at the L2Ds (or if you've used poor bike lights in the past, you'll be really amazed). There are other choices out there, especially with all the advancement in LED flashlight technology and new flashlight availability that seemingly changes weekly, but the Fenix lights are solid choices. They're reliable and have great backing from the seller (a big plus if you ever do need service or assistance).

I've been waiting a month for my flashlight from DX. Must be a popular one.

I've also had very good experiences with Shining Beam. Their shipping is extremely fast and they actually have the products in stock, unlike DX which often has to procure the product after you've ordered it. Shining Beam also has some lights with upgraded LEDs compared to the DX offerings.

too late to be of help to the OP, but i'm chiming in with another positive experience with these guys. in fact, reading this thread prompted me to order from them a second time. 3 romsien flashlights will now be in the stable!
