So,

I just pulled the trigger on a new bike.:) So, how do you all feel about it? Was it a score or am I nuts? It is a brand new Scott Addict R4 carbon fiber sub-16lbs wonder. I should be getting it sometime next week, I'm hoping in time for the Kitsap Color Classic with the Cascade Bicycle Club.

So, let me know what you think.

you're nuts if you think you can display an image from a Windoze directory at home here...

:-)

p.s. nice score, but let's see a pic! i'll bet it's a sweet ride... just the frameset, or did you get a full build (Ultegra? DA?)

Nice bike, congrats! What bike does it replace?

Yeah, that's what I get for being a newby. I went back and uploaded the pic. It's a complete build with Ultegra SL, with a compact crankset (50/34), and I've ordered a different cassette for it (12-27), should be good enough for the hills. I've lost 25lbs the last few months with 15 to hit my goal, and it has really help with the climbing. And the bike can't hurt.

good job on the buy! however, will the 12-27 work with the rear derailleur? (have had trouble when going past 25 on a few 9spd bikes using 105 or DA)...

alas, i don't do PayPal, so your ride will pass me by... good luck!

You should consider trying Seattle Craigslist first -- it's free. I've sold two bikes there in the past year; each of them took me one day to sell. No packing, shipping....cash transactions.

BTW, I'll be on the Kitsap Color Classic as well (unless the weather is bad).

That looks like a pretty nice bike to me and I think you scored good.

Don't sell the Cannondale - consider this N+1. Seriously though, spend some time/miles with the new bike before you sell the old one, make sure it is what you want. Make sure your ride the new one on a long ride and over various terrain before you decide.

Nice bike, yes you scored. :thumb: Of course, you still may be nuts. :D

But seriously, as much as we tease DG about his WHITE bike, I like white bikes. Just don't tell him I said so.

Have you ever ridden on this model before?

I've bid on eBay bikes before, but nothing that I wasn't pretty familiar with.

Good point.

How much $$$ delivered? Some shipping on ebay has gotten out of sight. Also looks nice.

Shipping was only 49.99, New York State to Seattle. I got the bike for $1000.00 under retail.

Should work just fine, I just put a 12-27 (up from 12-25) on one of my rides, with 50-36 front chainrings, Ultegra 'short-cage' rear derailleur..works just fine

Just be sure the chain is long enough, my current one was, so no problem.

I asked if you had ridden one before, because I test rode 3 different Scott bikes, none anywhere near this price range, and they did have some common characteristics. However I have no idea if they carry over across a broad range of their bikes.

The ones I rode had very good handling and good acceleration and had very stiff frames. As I was looking for high riding comfort, I decided they weren't right for me. But had I been looking for performance, I would have given them strong consideration.

Of course I have poor qualifications to be commenting on a higher end road bike. My primary experience was with their SUB-10 city/urban bike. It had the most jarring ride of any bike I have ever ridden, but it has a stiffened aluminum frame, the Addict R4's carbon frame could be very different.
