Did a hard ride today with a club I tag along with. I was pulling strong and riding great then I heard a unfamiliar creak start in and it got worse. I had noticed a what looked like a scratch in a sticker on the part where the fork and bottom tube connect. Today it was bigger and more defined. Another guy looked at it and said that looks like a crack not a scratch. I didn't think it was a scratch cause I have never leaned the bike up or taken a fall on it. I called the bike shop I purchased it at and they said to bring it on Monday so they can look at it and then they can call Giant for a RMA number. What a bummer :(
Let us know what happens.I want to get the new Giant frame next year.
I have heard that Giant is real good about the warranty on their bikes so you should be alright. Obviously don't ride that bike any more because carbon can fail suddenly.

The part I am upset about is the down time. I was doing great in my training and now this. Sucks!

Dropped the bike off tonight with the LBS the repair guy looked at it and right away said what a crack. They will call the Giant rep on Monday to have him come out to examine it. Then they can order another frame. He only comes every other Tues and they can't remember when he came last. If I missed him and he came last week I will pull the bike out and ride the flat land till next week. Need to get some miles in...

Don't ride a cracked carbon fiber frame.
Don't do it.
Don't.
Catastrophic failure is not pretty.

When we have a Giant warr. they will send us a replacement without rep. authorization and, if needed, we return the item to Giant on a R.A.
(The bike industry is the only one I have worked in where a salesman has a greater ability to determine failure than a mechanic)

Well thanks for that info hopefully it goes smooth. The manager wasn't in when I dropped the bike off but all employees said have to wait till the rep comes to look at it.

Don't ride it. Go buy a cheap Wal-Mart bike before riding a crack carbon fiber frame. Go jogging. Swim. But for the sake of all of us telling you, don't ever ride a cracked frame.

After almost 2 weeks of no bike. Had to resort to riding my steel mtb. I picked up my bike tonight came home and was tweaking it for a while getting everything adjusted to where I like it. The bike looks slammin. The new black and gold paint scheme is sweet looking. Just wish I had the FSA cranks from this year but with my size the Ultegra is stiffer and better suited to my riding. Best part was Giant included the matching fork as well so everything matches. I am impressed with Giant. Had to pay for s/h and the cost to swap everything over.

Your LBS should have offered you a loaner to train on while they sorted your warranty claim.
