bike is a Coquest w/ tectro rx2.0 top mount brake levers.

Truth is I never use them. Bike is my only road bike and even when I am on some hairy off-road I always drive on the hoods. I spend about half and half between slicks and cross tires.

I use this bike for spirnt tri's and slap on some clip-ons to make it more fun. It works ok but would look alot cleaner sans top mounts.

Any thoughts? Rerouting cables, retaping all looks like PIA....

any easy ideas I can do?

Thanks in advance,

Scott

Good question. I would llke to remove mine from my Conquest Pro. The Tektro top-mount levers don't offer enough leverage to provide any real stopping power.

Your LBS should have some cable joiners in the service area. Routing new cable and rewrapping bar tape can be fun and a good learning experience, however.

The cable joiners are a nice option, since it preserves the most useful portion of your top mount levers, the inline adjuster barrel.

thanks chaps!-

before I bring the ride down to the LBS, what will I expect to pay; I don't want to get snookered by this LBS on a job that might be a cheap on labour but since I'm in the dark I don't know what to expect........

....ballpark?

thanks in advance.....

I don't know what the rates are at your LBS, but the majority of the cost will probably be labour.
