I promised to take more pix while riding. Here are some from a lunch time loop I try to do once a week but we have been busy at work most of the summer until last week and I was able to get out and ride in the awesome weather we had last Friday. It's a 20 mile loop with the first 4 miles up a mountain to warm up.

Enjoy!

The bottom/start of the climb in a little town called Coleville, PA.

After the climb through Coleville you come to a fork. To the left is about another 100 yards of climbing, to the right is another 3.5 miles of climbing. Somedays I choose left, somedays I choose right. This day I went right because I was feeling pretty good when I got to the fork.

There weren't any clearings to take pics from on the top of the ridge unless I went into someone's back yard and up there you may just get shot at since it is still kind of hickish(no offense to the hick Clydes). Descending the other side dumps you into a very small village(2-3 houses, a church and a general store) called Filmore which is the start of another climb but not has steep or as long, maybe a mile or so. The church is on the right and the climb is on the left.

This is the mountain I just rode up and came down. At the same intersection as the above picture but looking back.

Once at the top, the descent back to the mountain is very relaxing with the scenery especially on a clear day like it was.

The view heading toward the ridge line I rode across in the beginning of my ride. On the way back I was still feeling good and there is another short climb to a road(the left fork in the earlier picture) that is only halfway up the mountain ahead(although some of you Westerners may call it a hill).

The view from halfway up the mountain into the valley(They call it Happy Valley and Mt. Nittany is in the background for all you Penn State fans) I just road through.

These views just relax me and clear my mind, then I can go back to work and focus more easily on the tasks at hand instead of browsing BF the rest of the day.

Lastly, some giant sunflowers in someone's garden just before the descent back to the office.

Hope you all enjoyed my lunch time ride as much as I did.

That looks like a beautiful and scenic ride! I think I'm gonna have to add Pennsylvania to my "Must Bike Ride Thru" list.

Wow, nice view! No roads like that out here. Out here it's mostly 3 lane roads with 80 mph traffic in 50 mile zones.:(

My grandfather lives in Hollidaysburg, and when I took a family trip to visit him last August I brought my bike with me. I rode up around Horseshoe Curve, which was an awesome loop with great climbing and descending. PA has some great road riding.

If you visit again bring your bike and ride the Lower Trail. It's rail trail that runs from Alexadria to somewhere very close to Holidaysburg. It's a 32 mile round trip along the Little Juniata and a very nice ride. Here is a link: http://www.rttcpa.org/

Here we have to worry about the drunk hicks in the beat up pick ups with the gun rack buzzing by on the way to their hunting spots. I have been hit with a side mirror once (thank goodness it was collapsable) and been buzzed many times by others on these roads.

Nice - those roads look smooth, especially the resurfaced one.

We were in Carlisle,Pa two months ago for a motorcycle show and I did bring my bike with me. Riding at night in downtown Carlisle was so nice and I even got out to the country areas for a few miles. What a beautiful area and the people are so nice. Unlike here in S.Florida. I just love PA. especially the Lancaster/Intercourse regions. :thumb:
