I found this interesting as well:

With no UCI points, Armstrong received no special treatment, positioned in the fifth row as the first starter behind ranked riders. He missed the initial selection of a dozen riders, and finished mid-pack. Asked about his decision to race after flying across the country, Armstrong answered, “I slept on the plane. I wanted to race. I just love racing my bike.”

What I really love is that he is rocking a 53/39. I guess when you're Lance Armstrong you can pull that off.

he did get special treatment though. Order of registration line up after points and he wasn't registered until....when he showed up (and it was 4th row, not 5th). Unless the promoter had something going on and wasn't publishing his name on the list. I doubt he was the first to register, but I don't really care much. In reality it didn't matter too much and I am all for him racing whatever he wants, whenever he wants.

Either way, I found it funny that while they called up Trebon, Page, Wells, et all, they had to push around the mob of press surrounding Lance. the photographers did not take much notice because they were busy being in the Lance Armstrong media blitz.

It was also pretty fricking awesome to race a couple laps in the same group with him. That was probably the most fun I have had racing on my bike ever.

Did you see Tony Cruz next to Lance in that picture? Cross Vegas was an AWESOME race to see! I liked the Bearclaw guy racing with a full mountain man beard! The industry/media race was pretty cool to watch also, there was some old hippie guys with a santa claus beard out there burning it up. I'll have to say that was a LONG course with a lot of climbing...
