Road Bike Racing - Velocity Escape - again!

Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.
Hi everyone,
I plan tu build a wheel set for tubulars (better said, to replace the rims on an existing wheel set)
The DT 240s hubs have both 28H and same will have the rims.
One option would be the Velocity Escape of which I read well in this forum.
Mavic is out of discussion.
An alternative: Ambrosio Crono F20 but they have no machined flanks.
A couple of questions (I already used search function, before you ask):
- Would these rims do for a guy (me) of 78kg? As comparison currently I use DT R1.1 single rims and see no issues.
- Have the rims eyelets?
- What is the max. allowed spoke tension? (I´d like to use it all)
Use would be just (long) races with a few 1000m climbing (typical 200km / 4000hm)
For training I have enough wheels.
Thanks in advance!

Why not Velocity Pro Elite (http://www.velocityusa.com/default.asp?contentID=588)?

First of all let me say that I´m sorry that I posted the thread in the wrong place - I did another one under road cycling, more proper location.
As for the question:
I´m focused on climbing and I try to save weight. Aero rims are not what I´m looking for.
I have all low-profile rims and happy so.

Other than the fact that these rims weigh more than some complete wheels do?

Yeah, you'd think they'd be a good 150g lighter, but for the money...

Yeah, for about $10 more per rim, you can get a slightly shallower Kinlin tubular that is 120 grams lighter than the Pro Elite. That's about 8 cents per gram saved!
I think they're meant for tubular curious hipsters.

I still haven't gotten around to building my Escape's, but I can tell you that there are no eyelets, but from what I've heard, they're not always stronger.

I had a set of wheels laced to escapes a few years back. Front laced radial 24 and rear 2x NDS, 3x DS 28h. Wheels were nice and stiff. Escapes are pretty much like aeroheads but in tubular form. They build up pretty easily (watch the high spot on the rim seam). Don't worry about having no eyelets. I run my tension 110-120. When the tension gets too high, the rim gets really touchy and hard to true, so just back down the tension a little.
Kinlins are another option. I dont have any experience with them but I think I will build a set with them in the spring

WHAT?
In the USA ist the Kinlin more expensive? (Resp. the Velocity cheaper?)
In Europe I found the Kin for 30 Euro and the Vel (actually the Escape) for 55 to 60.

Could you explain it? Seriously, I´m interested to your opinion but I didn´t understand it.
Thanks

He was making a joke.
I just didn´t know the word.
I gather it means "young, broke people".
Unfortunately I´m not the first and fortunately (knock on wood) not the latter.

Huh? Where? I'm in the market (soon, at least) for deep section AL tubbies <$100/rim.
Google helps ...

I was a little off, but around here you can find the Velocity Deep V for $50 (not sure about the Pro Elite, though, as nobody seems to actually list it) and the Kinlin is $55.
