I think I might go with the flashlight setup now and deciding on which mount to go with. I am really leaning to the Romisen RC-N3 (here (http://www.shiningbeam.com/servlet/the-53/Romisen-RC-dsh-N3-CREE-Q5/Detail)) for a flashlight since I hear alot of good things and they use AA (I have a PowerEx charger).

I hear alot of good thing about the Two Fish Blocks (here (https://www.4sevens.com/product_info.php?products_id=273)), but it seems like the Fenix would be more secure with the "screw down" vs. the straps (here (http://www.dealextreme.com/details.dx/sku.13004)).

Deal Extreme also has a myriad of other flashlight mounts. Are they any good? They are very inexpensive, but I question their durability, etc.

I use lockblocks and have had zero problems with my lights slipping, as long as I tighten the straps properly.

Also note that the Fenix plastic mount appears to be incompatible with 31.8mm handlebars, which many bikes come with nowdays. If you're considering the LockBlock, also consider the beefier TwoFish CycleBlock.

The screw down mount is a piece of crap. Stick with the TwoFish mounts and a Fenix. They are high quality and work well. I have seen a lot of other flashlights recommended and then don't stand up to scrutiny. Quality, quality, quality. Don't come back ranting about inferior flashlights if you buy anything besides a Fenix. I would not recommend anything else besides the Fenix to my riding buddies.

Olight's new M20 is pretty nice too, sort of a Fenix L2D Q5 on steroids. Powered by 18650, however. If I had to take only one flashlight from my current collection to use as a bicycle headlight by itself, I'd take the M20 with the OP reflector. Best mix of throw, spill, hotspot intensity, runtime, size and weight that I currently have. And very high quality. It's currently my helmet light :)

I use this (http://www.dealextreme.com/details.dx/sku.8274) mount for my P7 (http://www.dealextreme.com/details.dx/sku.13060). Works well enough, though I sometimes need to angle the light back up after hitting large bumps.

Good looking mount with a lot of positive reviews. A++ for a good recommendation that I do not recall seeing on this sub-forum. Keep the new, good ideas coming.:thumb:

I just ordered 2 of these. For a 1.90 how can you go wrong.

I simply zip-tie my two Fenix flashlights to my helmet.

I slipped a little piece of foam (but could use anything) to adjust the angle just right.

I set them far enough back on the helmet to make it easy to unscrew the back to get out the batteries for recharge.

Couldn't be simpler. Very secure. Fast to set up. And can't beat the price!

Wow, I just did the same thing tonight. I recently got the M20 Warrior Premium from Battery Junction as part of their promotion of the newly released flashlight. I did the thing with four L2Ds on the handlebar and the M20 on the helmet. I really thought the weight on the helmet would bother me, but I had no problem with it. And man! What throw for a helmet light...

Aye, here's its output, where 1.0 on the vertical scale represents the ubiquitous Fenix L2D Q5 on Turbo (you've undoubtedly seen this graph, but for the rest of them...):

The Olight M20 R2 (powered by 1 x 18650) has 150%+ of the brightness of the L2D Q5 for the first two hours, then tapers for up to another two hours to about 100% of an L2D Q5 before initiating the low-battery warning*. I haven't done any formal testing between the smooth and textured reflectors, but after buying the smooth one and swapping back & forth, this is one light where it didn't seem like the smooth one makes it throw much better. Textured is fine :)

The next stage of the disease is to get a Dereelight DBS V2 :) You know you want one!

* for those who'd prefer a light the size & weight of the M20, but with fully-regulated output on an 18650 battery at the expense of runtime, consider the Dereelight CL1H V4 with the 1S pill, which will hold full output for about 1.8 hours, then turn off abruptly ;)

Their price for L2D was good at the time, so I figured I'll order the light and go DIY while I wait for the TwoFish to become available locally. I wrapped a short loop of old inner tyre around the handlebar to hold the Fenix in position.

More than 6 months later, I still haven't bothered to look for a "proper" handlebar mount. The inner tyre loop works just fine for me.

The Fenix mount would be perfect if it didn't have so much slop in it's mechanism. The general idea for the mount is great, if a little bulky but could be the best if not for the slop. I was using it for my L2D but now that I'm upgrading to two P7 based lights, I'm using the Lockblocks which don't don't seem as sturdy but in practice seem to work better.

Or, if I needed something with a bit more spill, I could go for a Milky modded one of these:

But I might need to rig up some kind of suspension system scavenged from the forks another bike. :p
