What is the total maximum weight that a tadpole trike can carry? What about adding the weight of a trailer as well? If a trike was loaded and pulling a trailer loaded up to 100 pounds would the trailer drop the max carry weight of the trike?
I may have to call manufacturers on this one.

I think most Catrikes have a rider capacity of 275 lbs. I doubt that pulling a heavy trailer would change the trikes person hauling capabilities. Afterall any trail weight would be concentrated on just the rear wheel. That may need to be upgraded for a real heavy trailer.

Rider weight is different then max loaded weight. I saw one trike that had a max load weight of 400 pounds. Really though, including me and my touring gear together will be around 240 then add the pull weight of aprox. 110 pounds for a loaded trailer. I think I should be safe.

From Mark at Catrikes, useing the Expedition as an example, the weight limit states 275 lbs. But Mark stated that they also plan for 30-40 lbs extra for gear.
As for the trailer, if loaded right there should only be about 40-50 lbs on the tongue, the rest is just drag.

I dunno. What's an electric pipe organ weigh?

yes, but they were pulling it. Based on the rider and the axle I've heard one can pull up to 500 pounds, though I'm not sure how that would work on a steep grade!
