Hi, I want to know if the jake the snake have rack capability because i want to use it for commute. I want to put like 20 pound on the rack. I also would apreciate any other suggestion of bike that would do the job. I'm planning of doing about some road, light pack trail and some off road. thanks

I've got an Airborne Carpe Diem that would work well as you described.

Hi, the titanium frame is to expensive for what i want to do with it and there's no LBS who sell them here. I found that i cannot mount a rack on the jake. Which cyclocross bike around 1000 to 1200 US that you can mount a rack on it? I found the trek XO1 it's any good ? I test drove it and it feel good to me. I also found the the bianchi volpe look like what i need but it's not sold in canada it's a Us model only. Any suggestion i dont want to make a buy with just one bike to decide from thanks.

The Lemond Poprad. There's lots of threads on this bike lately . My girlfriend is getting one and that was one thing she wanted for sure was rack mounts for touring. At our lbs they go for 1200 but at one near my Mom's house she is getting one for 900 so shopping around is not bad idea. She was also looking at a Jake the Snake but oh well

I have a 2001 Jake the Snake and I have full rack braze-ons. I love the bike. I have raced it and it doubles as my winter/commuting bike. I would highly recommend it.

I commute on my Poprad every now and then (without a rack). I have a buddy who commutes on his Poprad with rack and two paniers. It's a very good commuter.

The Surly Crosscheck (http://www.surlybikes.com/crosscheck.html) could be another good option.

Or have a Soma Double Cross frame (http://www.somafab.com/frames.html) built how you like it.

Both these bikes have all the braze ons etc for fenders and racks.

I have a rack on my Cross Check. I carry camera gear and my tire equipment (pump, spare tubes, tools etc) in the paniers.

'04 Cannondale Cyclocross 800. Put some touring tires, rack, and panniers and your set for a smooth ride. STI shifting--a blast.
