i'm interested in getting this water bottle system:
http://www.nashbar.com/profile.cfm?category=600072&subcategory=60001023&brand=&sku=10274&storetype=&estoreid=&pagename=Shop%20by%20Subcat%3A%20Cage%2FBottle%20Accessories
i see a small round metal band on right side which i assume go into the seatpost or frame of the bike...am i correct? so where does it hold the water bottle? i dont see any hole anywhere. also there are 2 silver screws on the ends...where do u screw these screws to? does any1 have this water bottle system and can take a pix of it on your bike? thx in advance.
I have this on my older than I am, never maintained, sat in the garage beater. the band wraps around the frame/tube wherever and it is tricky to put on. Those screws act as regular braze ons for the cage once you have it on.
So you need to buy a bottle cage to put on this braze on substitute.

where do the 2 screws fit into these cages..i dont see any holes on the cage? and what is a brazed on?
are there any easy or cheaper system for my folding bike which doesn't already have holes drill in?
I purchased the TwoFish system for my Boardwalk.

Comes with the pictured water bottle as well. It works pretty well, it does slip a tiny amount if you encounter a ruff patch though, but I highly recommend it none the less.

would that work with those small poland spring water bottle (16.9 fl oz, 500mL) or the bit bigger version (700mL)?

If you buy a cage, any old cage, you will find two holes that match up with the threaded holes that the screws on the Minoura adapter come screwed into.
I use one of these, with a bottle cage, on the underside of the stoker stem on our tandem, for my wife to use. I have the previously-mentioned TwoFish cage (with velcro) on the stem of a recumbent bike. The TwoFish is much easier to install but the Minoura works well once you get it on.

i'm leaning toward the two fish bottle system...so can any1 answer this question ^^^^? this will help me to decide to get this one or not.
Well I came back to check on this thread. And to answer your question in a nutshell, yes but no. :D
I had an ICE MOUNTAIN 16.9 ounce bottle I tried in it for you, I am thinking it is the same since POLAND SPRING and ICE MOUNTAIN are essentially the same under the Nestle umbrella. I don't think I have seen a POLAND SPRING in years here in Chicago. http://www.myspringwater.com/GetQualityWater/RegionalMap.aspx
The bottle fits in the bracket, but there is allot of wiggle room. If you were on anything but exceptionally smooth terrain it would fall out IMO. I used a 23 ounce bottle of ICE MOUNTAIN before and had the same issues.
I recommend doing as I do, purchase a PUR filter, and use the included bottle. I did check the current bottle is BPA free too. I recommend cleaning it out with Vinegar/Water the night before use to remove the plastic taste. :thumb:
Here are some pictures of the ICE MOUNTAIN bottle in the cage.

i noticed your pix from those ice mountain water bottle has some sort of indent in the middle of the bottle, the poland spring water bottle design doesn't have that. it is doesn't have that "indent." would you think that fit if get that design?
also where do you put secure the velcro on your bike? on the frame, handlepost or seatpost?

I think it's pretty amazing you didn't see the two screws and think 'hey these are probably the same width as the braze-ons on bottle-cage equipped bike', so to then say 'hey - you mean it doesn't come with a cage?' is really due to a lack of observation on your part.
I'd imagine the idea of it being an 'adapter' is so you can fit your own choice of cage and bottle; if it came with a specific cage then you'd only be able to use one specific fit of bottle.
This way gives you the choice to fit any. ie it's a good thing, not - as reading your other recent posts I'm pretty much sure you assumed - some kind of way of ripping you off.

Probably not. I have tried other bottles like your standard 20oz Coke and such, and none seem to really fit. The stock bottle has a groove that the cage uses to retain it. This seems to be the flaw in using any other bottle that is not specifically meant for a bike cage.

As far as where I mount it;
I put it on the handlebar stem just below where the bars meet, so that the tip of my water bottle resides just below the bars.

at least we're wise.
I'm surprised you haven't asked bpv to try and put other drinks in the bottle in case only water works.

Yeah. If they weren't jerks they would have warned you that Nashbar and Performance are both owned by the same company and therefore might charge you more postage than they would someone else they like better. :)

i just got the two first bottle sytem today!!! so far i like it...but taking the bottle in/out the bottle cage is kinda of hard...
bpv: did u need to adjust the cage or anything so u can take out and put in the bottle to the cage easier?

bpv: do I need to take the lid off the bottle to get the liquid out of the recepticle and into my mouth?
I understand you need to turn the bottle so that gravity will assist the water in getting to your mouth. That's one huge design flaw, IMO.

i conclude the two fish bottle it came with was fundamentally flaw...i just put in the poland spring bottle (700mL) and i was to take the bottle in and out easily.
