Road Cycling - Is there anything cooler than...

Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.
...riding perfectly matched with a tail wind and everything seems still and quiet?
If there is, I'd like to know about it.

I had that tailwind today too for a short part of my ride. It lets you hear and feel things you ordinarily wouldn't.

anything cooler? no. nothing cooler than that on a bike.
nicer? i think that would be riding that tailwind with your sweetheart at your side and the sun setting off to the right or left. maybe riding along the seaside, so you get the waves crashing. golly that'd be really nice and make me all warm and fuzzy inside.
*sigh*
Knowing that the headwind work is behind you rather than in front makes it all the better.

Much as I enjoy the tailwinds, I hate when they match my speed, or are within a couple miles an hour. I was climbing a steep hill today with a matched tailwind and I was burning up. I need the little bit of wind to stay cool.

Ah...that is really sweet. I had that last year on our ride, minus the sea side. Nice touch tho :D We started riding on July 3rd last year, so on the 2nd night of our journey we rode with the sun setting and fireworks in all directions over the horizon. It was amazing... brings that warm & fuzzy feeling you mentioned. *grin*

You know, I was thinking the same thing, they're nice except when you're really cranking, then you almost wish it wasn't there so you could cool off.
How sad, when something so helpful comes along and all we do is complain about it ;)

Awful is being a child living in a 3rd world country, having your parents die of AIDS and picking stuff out of a garbage dump filled with medical and toxic waste to survive.
Damn. I though Vancouver was NICE!
I hate to be a party pooper but I think blasting down a long (let's say at least 4 miles) descent on good pavement is cooler than a tailwind (much as I love 'em!). The perfect descent would be not overly technical so you could get the speed up, but challenging enough to make you appreciate it and keep the adrenaline pumped up. (You get to the bottom and say to yourself, "Why am I doing this ***** at my age!")

I removed the posts, the quotes remain.
Makes for more interesting reading though.
Yes I can come up with a few things, that sounds..nice.
I can come up with a few things more important for shure.
Saying "Awful is being a child living in a 3rd world country, having your parents die of AIDS and picking stuff out of a garbage dump filled with medical and toxic waste to survive." I just had to a look around worldwise and shudder.
I found the question inane.
Really bugged me, I could have gone on and on.
I did type later creatively.
Sorry for ranting.
I apologise.
This is wasting resources.
