Today was one of those days. My legs felt heavy, I never got into a rhythm, and I couldn't get my head into the ride. Not sure why. I was well rested and I had plenty to eat, but I still felt tired when I started. I managed to eek out 25 miles, but they were slower than usual and seemed to take forever. Might have had something to do with the weather - rainy, humid and windy.

I think I'll ride some hills tomorrow to hopefully snap out of the doldrums.

I get that way too after some pretty tense riding the previous day. Always takes me a day or two to snap out of that "why did I start biking again?" phase ;)

I have days like this too.
Sometimes it's because of headwinds, sometimes it's simply because I'm not 21 years old anymore. :D

It could just be that you were already filled with dread and resigned to the fact that your Redskins were facing certain doom Sunday afternoon. :roflmao2::roflmao2: Just kidding, well, not really.

Hey, it's pretty normal. There's nothing wrong with taking a day of nice relaxing spinning just to let the legs get a work out and a stretch. I would take it as a plus that you pumped out 25 miles on a day when you weren't into it.

Welcome to the herd, btw. You have some beautiful country roads up your way to ride once you get out of the rat race.

Often when I have one of those days it turns out to be wind or equipment - low tires, rubbing brake, etc. Not that the engine can't have bad days too, but somehow with cycling my performance tends to vary less day to day than other athletic endeavors.

What a difference a day makes!! Good ride today. After I read GearsForFears post about equipment, I immediately checked my bike.....front brakes were rubbing a little. Go figure. :)

PS. It's halftime and the 'Skins are up 17-7!!!

I have found that when I don't feel up to par, it's always better to do something than to sit around and do nothing. So going for a slower-speed ride is just fine, as opposed to sitting around the house. Glad to see it turned around in a hurry.

What is it with brakes rubbing? Bautieri had the same problem on Saturday, and spent half his century ride with them dragging.

I felt that way the other day doing one of my hillier routes. Just 25 miles, but hey, I'm a clyde. Anyway, despite feeling like I couldn't even haul myself out of bed, no less climb a steep 3/4 mile hill, I ended up getting a fastest time. Wish I'd enjoyed it more!
