Just bought my first tri wetsuit. I was putting in on for a swim and after I get the leg part on, I'm pulling it up and it rips! There's about a 12" rip in the side right where two panels come together. Oy! And I have my first race coming up this weekend. :twitchy:
Any of you have experience with QR wetsuits? I'm a diver and have worn many wetsuits in my day, and have never had one rip before. The suit fits fine and generally goes on very easy. It's very hard to believe a brand new suit would be this fragile. Especially one that costs $300.
This happened yesterday afternoon so I won't be able to reach my retailer until Monday. I have no idea what to expect them to say. Any thoughts, advise, even prayers would be welcome. :(

Should get warrantied, but it's possible you should've been gentler.

You must have been excited. I don't blame you though. Just sew it up if there isn't a warranty.

I'd explain your experience with other wetsuits and see if they'll exchange it for another one. It should not have ripped at the seams. You may have just gotten one that missed quality controls.

Yeah, I'll be talking to them in about 10 hours or so. Very frustrating. And yes, the tear was perfectly along the seam. I can't imagine why that wouldn't be due to a factory defect. There was no excessive pulling. The legs were already done, I was just pulling it over my torso. I mean how many wetsuits go on without any tugging at all? Get'n a headache. :bang:
At any rate, thanks for the responses. I'll be fill'n y'all in.

I agree they should warranty that, no reason at all it should rip like that.

Just talked All3Sports.com. Basically said, sorry you're screwed. But we'll sell you a nice patch kit if you like. :(

Hold on, check that. Now they're saying they didn't know it was along the seam (even though I sent 4 pictures with the email) and it is warrantied........

Okay, looks like all3sports.com (http://www.all3sports.com/index.php?=&jsenabled=1) is a good company after all. They're shipping out a new suit, and a call-tag for the old one. :thumb:
I spoke directly with QR as well, earlier. The guy told me you should be able to abuse these suits quite a bit and they should hold up, especially at the seams.
Nevertheless, I'm going to handle the new suit with kid gloves to be sure. Thanks for the input.
And be careful with your wetsuits!
