So I woke up at 7:30am to go for my Sunday ride with my friends. Turns out RK still had a cold and she and her husband were going to skip the ride. I still wasn't sure if the other rider was going to join us so I met at our usual location at the Sprinter Station in Escondido at 9am. He was also a no show. We had originally intended to do a quick 20 mile ride since RK and her husband had to get back to pick up their kids with in a couple of hours. So I was still mentally expecting that. Turns out as I head on down Mission towards S. Santa Fe I keep going down to Vista Village drive make my way onto Vista Way and then Left on College.
I saw the Hill approaching and thought "now this would be a good time to turn around and head back." Although never did turn the bike around and kept heading up the hill. Felt good. Then I hit Carlsbad Village Dr. Made the right turn and kept on going then noticed that there were some nice hills here too. But again I kept on going. At this point I decided I was going to make it out to the beach. Rode Carlsbad Village Dr. till it hit the 101 and stopped at ate my cliff bar.
It was really gray at the beach

I also took a pic of my bike which I hadn't done before.

I took off from there and headed South on the 101. Sorry to the people I passed. I wanted to get around but you were blocking the intersection at the light and slow to take off. Veered Left onto Palomar Airport Rd and headed back West. The road is a nice straight through fare for cars and bikes alike. Although it is rolling and once you get up to the end of it its a nice little climb but then drops you into the Business area of San Marcos. Which is pretty flat. Headed back onto the MUP and then took a right onto Auto Parkway and headed up that bit of hill and then over to Chipotle for some food. Had a yummy Chicken Burrito but felt kind of like a brick on the way home but at this point it was only about 4 miles.
Worse part though was the nasty head wind heading home up my street. Felt like I was standing still.
All in all did 45 miles in 3hrs road time.
So normally in the past I would shy away from the hills and do them sparingly but they felt good today and I rather quite enjoyed them. I guess I am making progress.
