33K topics and over 800k posts in Singlespeed forum.
28k topics and 350k posts in Mountain Biking.
Why has mountain biking failed to draw?
To get off the negative and focus on the future, what must mountain biking do to lure the fixie demographic away from their beloved machines and get dirty?
It's only a matter of time before the Fixed forum overtakes the Mechanics forum. This confirms my suspicion that working on your own bike was just a passing fad. :D

We don't want to top those numbers, the mtb forum is exclusive and not to be compared. Shame on you.

Are you saying you not being this year's prom queen doesn't lead you to question your sport?

Thanks. The post was a back door way for me to show my admiration for you guys. Not an insult all in the fixed-gear crowd, I've been riding one for ten years. It's nice to see a sport grow, but like a favorite trail that get's crowded, you kind miss the good old days when things were more intimate.

Tom boys don't like being prom queen. That's a job for pansies.

Oh things can get more intimate here, we just don't talk about it. Well actually.......

You all know Pcad right? Check THIS (http://www.bikeforums.net/showthread.php?t=470994) out....

If I had the time and inclination a zillion posts might be considered top of the heap of where to spend my time but.... rather than sifting through too much quantity and too little quality I'd rather be riding.

Are you laboring under the impression that the mtb forum is filled with quality posts?

I am certainly not accusing myself of helping to improve its quality, by the by. :thumb:

holy fugg! 35 miles?!? u r crazy!!!!!Mountain bikes are pretty humbling. I'm used to doing 100mile 10k+ climbs on my roadbike but 35 miles on this beat me up. Now I'm more impressed with Lance's 100 dirt race he finished second in. My road bike is 14.8 pounds of efficiency. This thing is like 35 pounds of earn every inch. I wasn't sure how the ride would be for my first time so I left platforms on but after my maiden voyage they are coming of for clipless.

I used to post a lot in here and in SS/FG, but I don't post in SS/FG at all anymore, and the mtn bike forum isn't holding my interest that much. Maybe too many "how much is this worth", "I broke ____ today", "best bike for some ridiculously low sum of money" threads. SS/FG went through some sort of purge a while back, and got a lot less interesting in the span of a few days. The Commuting forum is surprisingly lively, and things don't devolve or escalate, even during the steel vs. Al vs. carbon debates.

To vredsteen:

who cares? It still doesn't change my local slice of riding Heaven, riding styles or mtb lifestyle.

I really don't care. I only posted to prove a point. Forum stats don't really matter. Bask in your own awesomeniosity.
