Hey guys and gals,
My son and I went out for the Apple Cider Century in Three Oaks, Michigan. We camped in town the night before and it was turning out to be a great day. However, 27 miles in to my first official century attempt there was a pretty bad accident. I stopped to see if I could help and as I was leaving a gentleman was not paying attention ahead of him and plowed into the rear of my bike:madhttp://www.bikeforums.net/images/smilies/mad.gif:.
It was kind of nasty, but not as bad as it could have been, since I was just starting to take off and was not moving very fast. We both went down pretty hard and I have got a banged up knee and wrist. I am hoping a little ice and vitamin I or old man candy will help.
My bike did not fair as well. In fact, the rear wheel is tacoed and split in half in one spot. That one will never roll again. The worst part is that it only had about a hundred miles on it. My wife is now convinced that I need a new wheel or wheel set:http://www.bikeforums.net/images/smilies/smile.gif). I looked for the wheel thread and was not successful. Would you guys mind posting links to your favorite sets of wheels? I have read about the Deep Vs and would like to know where to get them.
I am a 240lb clyde who rides a fair amount here in Michigan. That means about 2500 miles this year and a whole lot of pot holes. Please suggest spoke count for front and back. I would prefer a sealed bearing from a manufacturer I have heard of .
Thanks,
Blake
