I am reluctant to memtion this because it is so far off and may not materialize. But, I found a Tri that suits me. It is a sprint with 1/2 mile swim, 11 mile ride, and 3.1 mile run. The scarry part for me is the 1/2 mile swim. What is nice is the swim is down river!!!. I have dense bones and a rock and I have many of the same properties in water.

And I don't know if this is normal or not, because I haven't looked into a Tri before, but there is (get this) an over 40 clydesdale catagory. If I compete my goal will be to be a top Ten finisher. Ok, so there was only 7 participants in this catagory:D

It may conflict with my other goal of doing a 204 mile ride next year. They maybe the same weekend or a weekend apart. The Tri maybe the week before which would be the best scenario, but the difference in training may be the bigger problem. But, having a goal of a Tri would give me something to work on this winter. My plan is to start doing some running once I get down to about 220, which should be in December. Swimming I could use as my cross training for winter. It all sounds good, but can I put it into practice????

Yes!!!! Go buy or go to the library and read the Joe Friel books about your first triathlon. He will give you and easy way of making it happen.
