Well, I whacked my rear wheel and bent the rim on a railroad crossing. :(

I straightened the braking surfaces and trued the wheel. To get the wheel true some spokes are insainly tight and others a pretty loose. I loosened everything to see how bad it was. The rim is really bent. About 1/2" - 3/4" out. There is also a little bit of a flat spot where it took the impact.

I would like to replace the rim. However, I only see Cosmos as a fully built wheel. Can I get a Cosmos replacement rim? I would like it to have the Cosmos stickers and matching color if possible. I don't want to buy the whole thing as the hub is only a few weeks old.

Contact a Mavic dealer, they should be able to get you one.
Also, Mavic has a new program, called MP3. You pay 8% of the retail purchase price and get a damage replacement program for two years. This is only on new wheelsets from an authorised dealer, but almost any damage will be covered, pothole, back over it with the car, whatever.

Thanks Rev!!!

I was getting a little concerned not seeing them on line. I didn't want them mismatched on a new bike.

Note to self: Don't ride like a Buffalo........finesse.....

The Open Pro rim seems to be the same as the rim used on the Cosmos wheels. If it is not, it is extremely close.

Yeah, I just want it to be all "matchy matchy" since the bike is brand new.

I went to my LBS and they will have it in in a few days :D
